The Geelani Farce

The spin doctors told him so and off he went to Vessu to "assure" Pandits who were driven away by his ilk some 22 years back. What he said is here.
Our reply as reported by the media is here.

Geelani - Among the Civilised!

There is an interesting take away from the following press report (on Geelani at the recently concluded India Today Conclave) of a gentleman called Arpit Parashar in the Tehelka. It nomenclates Syed Ali Shah Geelani as Chairman of the Hurriyat Conference but prefers to call us as a right wing Kashmiri group.Even by my own godless ways of life and belief in the Nietzschean ideology of a dead god I wouldn’t be apologetic to call Geelani an Islamic Bigot. Look at the inverse logic that our journos including Arpit use.Geelani to them needs no affirmative fixing label irrespective of his regular pronouncements that Kashmir should merge into Pakistan because it is a muslim majority area. That he believes Islam is the glue between Kashmiris and Pakistan obviously isn’t feeding any frenzy at all, right or left. That he got Abdul Ghani Lone killed because Lone had apparently looked towards India for a solution doesn’t set any alarm bells ringing into our friend Arpit or the likes of many such apologists of hate. That Geelani invokes religion (Islam here) to drive mobs and to frenzy is pious and just because we protest against such ideologues of hate is being right wing.

I wouldn’t mind being branded a radical Hindu provided I was one. In 22 years of our exile Kashmiri Pandits have not killed, maimed or even injured one Muslim. They have not brought down, burnt, ransacked or even partially destroyed the properties of any Muslims despite the fact their own houses lie destroyed and their places of worship desecrated.Yet Arpit and likes have a nomenclature for us.

But humko kahein kafir, Allah ki marzi Hain

The idols nomenclate me as the infidel, there must be God’s will in this.

That brings us back to the India Today Conclave. We at Roots in Kashmir do believe that we must be statesmanlike when it comes to finding solutions to issues as vexed as Kashmir. Neither is it our argument not to involve people who differ with our viewpoint on Kashmir.Infact we would welcome every move that would result in a solution to the Kashmir issue. What we all need to decide is whether people like Geelani are or can actually pave the way forward for any kind of solution at all, or are they a part of the problem itself. Before a reputed media organization like India Today decided to call Geelani(unless they wanted to call his bluff, which I do not rule out) to address the conclave don’t they believe that it is necessary to do a basic background check on the man who is a sworn Islamist and known fascist even by the most liberal standards. It is not for nothing that even NDTV calls him a hardliner. Not the first time though has India Today invited a killer of humanity to its Conclave.Earlier in 2008 they had Yasin Malik to address a session on Youth.Yasin Malik is to Geelani what Chemical Ali was to Saddam Hussein. So it wouldn’t be entirely wrong to expect the Burmese dictator or even a Qadafi next year.

If India Today believes that such people could be a part of the solution then either they are too naïve or too conspiring.

Now that he was allowed rather graciously to be a part of the Aroon Puri’s solution to Kashmir let us see what he brought to the table. He looked sheepish from the word go. Clearly this wasn’t his territory. There weren’t many in the crowd albeit some Pakistani diplomats and was Nayeem Khan there too, who would purchase his blood red wares. He was incoherent, gone was his nonchalant way with which he dismisses opponents in Kashmir. The village boy looked clearly like a cat on a hot tin roof that too in a huge city. Obviously he had nothing new to say. He mumbled the usual stuff but had neatly packaged it, though he couldn’t deliver it well. He spoke of “human rights violations” and the” brutality” of the Indian State the same state that paid his medical bills and appealed to the US government to grant him a visa. Haven’t we heard that before? He didn’t explain why it took him a week despite huge public pressure to announce a hartal when two girls in his hometown were recently murdered by forces loyal to His Master’s Voice. He tried to his best evoke some sympathy among his listeners and was getting exasperated by the second because people could see through his spiel.

Though he was the last speaker of the session and thus had the opportunity to reply to Arif Mohammed Khan’s fervent, logical and passionate speech but it seemed Geelani had clearly lost it. Seemed someone had understood the essence of Holy Koran better than Geelani and obviously had more to do with Kashmir’s glorious but pre-islamic or even secular past. He was stumped by Arif Mohammed’s references to Kalhan, Lalleshwari and Nund Rishi.Arif Mohammed had his day.But the worst for Geelani was yet to come.It was left to a young exiled Pandit to tell the audience how his mother wrapped him in a cloth to escape death at the hands of Geelani’s zealots when he was barely nine months old.The more inconvenient question was why Geelani had Abdul Ghani Lone(one of his own Hurriyat members killed). Aditya Raj Kaul had the audience cheering and when Geelani tom tommed the usual conspiracy by Jagmohan it was received by jeers from the crowd.

(Conclave Video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGxT646o4CA )

It is well known that people with dictatorial tendencies brook no opposition and therefore are not used to civil means. They are at their wits ends when questioned about their ideology or the means that they use to achieve their ends.No one in Kashmir dares ask Geelani such questions. That person would be history. Pity Ghani Loni made that mistake.

Mobster Syed Ali Shah Geelani stands exposed at the India Today Conclave

Aditya Raj Kaul, a young journalist and Founder of Roots In Kashmir in the audience, talked about his own experience and accused Geelani of being true only to his "masters" in Pakistan and not even to his own moderate leaders, such as Abdul Gani Lone who was allegedly killed by the Hurriyat hardliners. This happened at Taj Palace Hotel where the India Today Conclave 2011 was taking place.

Mr Geelani, were you served biriyani for the day? - by Dr Sanjay Parva

Dr Sanjay Parva was 'born and brought up in Kashmir in a sleepy village called Malmoh, that is on the connecting road between Magam (district Budgam) - Pattan (district Baramulla).' (quoted from Sanjay). He left the valley with his parents as everybody else did in what he calls 'one flourishing spring.' Sanjay says "I am still not able to forget home and feel life would have been different there had this turmoil not happened."

Instigated violence....

We had never had any doubts about where it all came from but here is the proof from one of the channels which is arguably pro-separatist. Listen to how Geelani's hounds want more "martyrs".

STONED

The Amarnath Yatra began yesterday with some 3000 brave hearts being flagged off from Jammu. This was despite the fact the Kashmir has seen one more planned "summer of discontent". One should not be surprised at all with the timing of the "spontaneous outpouring of the anger of urban -jeans,chic t-shirts, Nike shoes and Reebok caps youth". The master mobster Syed Ali Shah Geelani had warned the government of large scale protests if the period of the Yatra was not reduced to 15 days. True to his word Geelani showed that he meant business. With covert and overt support from Pakistan (to where he bows when in prayer) he unleashed the power of what he is known best for-the Islamic mobs.

It is not Geelani that baffles us here but all those parents who send their children to riot, to lynch, to kill,to throw petrol bombs and to pump out all their adrenalin on the streets of Kashmir. I didn't know this was a way of channelisng pent up sexual energies in the new radicalized Islamic Kashmir .What kind a parent would send his son to indulge in riot I often wonder. But then there is a history to it.

Kashmiri Muslims are adept in the art of Stone throwing. The last I heard was that some Malik is writing a book on Zen and the art of stone throwing. Throughout the sixties, seventies and eighties when there was no "occupation force" the Kashmiri Muslims would indulge in this "sport" by throwing stones at each other. The Sher-Bakre (supporters of NC and supporters of Mirwaiz) would almost indulge in this Kane-Jung(stone wars) almost religiously and come what may every Friday post the Nimaz this would be a permanent fixture and would delay my return from the school because the Alikadal bridge would be hostage to this stone war. So to believe that they are throwing stones because they are mourning or protesting would be out-rightly comical if it wasn't terribly tragic.

There is no doubt in anyone's mind why all this is happening now. The answer is simple that the separatists no matter what they say see the Amarnath Shrine as an extension or a connect of India with Kashmir. They do not see the same in case of let us a Kheer Bhavani Shrine because even today it is not frequented so much by non-kashmiri hindus.

They feel that all the gains of cleansing that they clinically achieved so far are seemingly frittered because lacs of pilgrims from the mainland are visiting Kashmir and thus the connect lives on. It frustrates them to no end but at the same time they cannot openly oppose the Yatra because they do not want to be seen as foot-soldiers of the ideology of Islamic Hate that their mentors like Syed Sallaudhin, Hafiz Saeed and others stand for.

At the same time Pakistan and other donors ask for some performance for the money that they are giving the separatists so here we are.

The other reason for stone throwing is that Pakistan and its cronies in Kashmir have realized that is simply impossible to beat India by force of Kalaishnikovs. So this route of Intifada (the Palestinian model) looks more real. In all this Kashmiri Muslims do not understand the damage they are doing to themselves. Imagine a young man in teens or even younger who is made to believe that a solution to a problem lies in throwing petrol bombs and stones. What kind a society are we creating. We have already seen effects of violence in Kashmir when one Kashmiri Muslim boy killed another simply because he thought that his friend was wooing his girlfriend. It is this belief that violence is answer or a solution that is dangerous and fraught with problems.

As a fellow Kashmiri I would request with folded hands to all Kashmiri Muslims not to give their children a stone or a petrol bomb but a book. Don't let them get used by mobsters like Geelani. Ask him where are his children and grand children. Are they throwing stones too?

It is time Kashmiri Muslims realize the enemy within. It is time the people like Shabnam Hashmi do not just lecture the state on being humane but also tells these Islamic mobs not to lynch security personnel, not to burn temples, not to encroach on properties of Kafirs and not to think of a stone as a solution.

PS: I will today re-read Wazoo-i-khoon of Mansur bin hallaj who too was stoned to death at the directions of someone who was a Geelani of those days. The Stone throwers live on......

‘Amnesty International’ a Jihadi Collaborator: Kashmiri Pandits

May 25th 2010

New Delhi: Roots in Kashmir, a frontline initiative of Kashmiri Pandits in exile came down heavily upon the Government of India today to allow a tainted organization and a known Jihadi collaborator for ignoring the plight of half a million Kashmiri Pandits living in forced exile due to their human rights violation at the hands of the very people who Amnesty International met on their six-day visit to Kashmir.

The recent visit of a two member team of Amnesty International to "assess human rights situation" in Kashmir comes in the wake of its already maligned image of having collaborating with the Jihadis. As if Gita Seghal's revelations were not enough proof already of what Amnesty stands for its meetings with killers and mobsters like Yasin Malik and Syed Ali Shah Geelani left nothing to imagination.

While there is definitely a need to assess human rights situation in Kashmir one must ask is Amnesty the right organization to do so? Could Jihadi collaborators be human right assessors too? “We at Roots in Kashmir strongly condemn the Government of India which allowed a tainted organization to send its members to "assess human rights situation" in Kashmir. We ask what could these people whose motives are already known, assess but collect data to make reports that are pre-conceived and biased.” said Mr. Sanjay Peshin-the coordinator of the group.

“And if they really did want to know about human rights of Kashmiris why did they not meet Kashmiri Pandit leadership or for that matter visit camps of Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu. Does Amnesty not believe that a forced exodus of a million people is a reason enough to "assess human rights situation"? Does it not believe that the ethnic cleansing of Pandits too deserves its attention?” asked Mr. Amal Magazine, an activist of the group.

“Such attitude where only Pak backed Muslim separatist leadership is attended to simply goes on to show which side of Amnesty International's bread is buttered” said an angry Mr. Piyush Kaul of the group. To escape persecution, more than 500,000 Kashmiri Pandits had to leave their home and hearths back in the Valley of which more than 50,000 refugees are still languishing in uninhabitable refugee camps in Jammu and Delhi.

It simply doesn’t matter what report they give because as an organization its credibility is already eroded but the very fact that government allows such kite flying missions makes light of what is a very important matter.

Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani...

"Hum Pakistan hain, Pakistan hamara hai"

..So goes Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the grand old man of the Kashmiri seperatists struggle. But perhaps now, after his fifth operation, he will have to add 'par mera pacemaker hindustani hai'.

Mr Geelani recently had an operation in Delhi's Escorts hospital to have his pacemaker replaced. There can be little doubt as to who funded this operation in this top hospital of the Indian capital where not many of the cities residents itself would think of getting admitted due to the costs involved.
An artificial pacemaker regulates the heartbeat when the heart is unable to do it itself because of some reason.

Funny, because that seems the role of the Indian govt in the Kashmir struggle. India's various unwise decisions and refusal to learn from the mistakes of the past have often regulated the Kashmir struggle and helped it to grow.

So yes, perhaps Mr. Geelani is right in getting his pacemaker from India, after all the unwise decisions of the same govt have been regulated the heartbeat of the Kashmir struggle without which this so called struggle would have died out long ago.

Our only solace - atleast now Mr Geelani can also rightfully state - Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani!

Kashmiri Pandits protest outside UN office at New York

Friday September 26, 2008 was a great day for the Global KP community. KPs from NY State, Connecticut and New Jersey , under the banner of IAKF(Indo American Kashmir Forum), participated in a rally outside the United Nations. We exceeded our quota of 20 to 25 people that the police had restricted us to and ended up having 30 people. The group was a diverse one and represented spouses whose husbands were working, CEOs, Representatives from Wall Street, Faculty members, Doctors, Managers, 2 Movie producers, attorneys and other members of the elite KP intelligentsia. The Protestors braved the rain and shouted slogans denouncing Islamic Terrorism. They submitted a memorandum to the UN Gen.Secretary Ban ki Moon.
This is a wake up call to those murders who thought they had driven us out and hence finished the opposition against the Talibanization of Kashmir. They must remember that each displaced child is letting the world know how Islamists ruined Kashmir, killed and raped, desecrated and destroyed.
It is a shame that the Government of India is still not standing up to the Islamic terrorists. They are letting them loose in Kashmir.Otherwise what explains Syed Ali Shah Geelani,Yasin Malik,Mirwaiz or even Mehbooba roaming free and spreading more venom.

‘Azadi Bara-e-Islam’ (freedom through Islam)

These were the words of Syed Ali Shah Geelani....and the crowd shouted in unison....
"Pakistan se rishta kya, la illaha illalla", "Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan", "Yehan kya chalega: Nizaam-e-Mustafa" besides the familiar "Ham kya chahte: Azadi".
AND OUR FRIENDS IN THE MEDIA ESPECIALLY THE ENGLISH MEDIA CALL THIS A SECULAR MOVEMENT...IT IS TIME FOR THEM TO HIDE THEIR FACES...LEST THEY WANT TO SHAME THEMSELVES...
This is what he told a gathering of some 20000 people at Srinagar yesterday...

"We are demanding from Pakistan’s rulers, political leadership and Pakistan’s people that Pakistan had been created for the sake of Islam and it should be used only for Islam. Socialism, secularism and America’s world order cannot work there. Only Islam must work there,” he said. “Through the relationship of Islam, we are all Pakistanis and Pakistan is ours”. Then he shouted: “Hum Pakistani hain. Pakistan hamara hai (We are Pakistani and Pakistan is ours).”
Yet strangely the Indian Media wants us not to look at it through the prism of communal politics.A snake with open fangs and we are supposed to worship him.
The Kashmiri Muslims have always been the most communal ,fanatic and barbaric people to have existed on this earth.Yet in a strange way our media loves to call their fanaticism, the voice of the people. They destroy temples and the media looks the other way.Yasin Malik is a darling of the Indian Media although all of them know he has raped, killed and kidnapped.
Dont forget Bitta Karate was received to a hero's welcome by Kashmiri Muslims.Call them secular at your peril.Today it is us,tomorrow it will be you.It is time for the "secular" media to wake up befor their homes become targets of Islamic fanaticism because this is what the Koran says .
"Slay them wherever you find them. Drive them out of the places from which they drove you. Idolatry is worse than carnage. . . . [I]f they attack you put them to the sword. Thus shall the unbelievers be rewarded: but if they desist, God is forgiving and merciful. Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme. But if they desist, fight none except the evil-doers"(2:190–93)."
The letter from Indian Mujahideen(the bombers of Jaipur,Ahmedabad and Banglore) to the press had this verse as a justification for doing what they were doing.

And the "Indian Media" calls them secular

Killers in arms-Hafiz Saeed of Lashkar and Syed Ali Shah Geelani

On day of LoC march, Dawah chief called Geelani
FOR THOSE WHO DONT KNOW WHAT DAWAH IS,IT IS LASHKAR-E-TOIBA WHO HAVE MURDERED THOUSANDS OF INDIANS AND HAVE UNLEASHED BRUTAL ISLAMIC TERRORISM ON ALL OF US...
so now we all know where the "Muzzafarabad March" came from.
The biggest tragedy is that this news found little or no mention in our National Media. They seem to be too busy in showing that the "Economic Blockade" imposed by "Hindu Goons" is to" kill secular and peace loving Muslims of Kashmir".
Srinagar, August 13: On the day Kashmiris marched in their thousands on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road, hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani received a call from Jamat-ud-Dawah chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed informing him that workers of the Dawah were waiting for the marchers at Chakothi on the other side of the Line of Control. Saeed reportedly welcomed the Hurriyat Conference’s decision “to sever trade ties with India”.
“Both leaders expressed their determination to stand united against the Indian conspiracies and plots,” a statement posted on the Dawah’s website said.
“Hafiz Saeed assured (Geelani) that every possible assistance including provision of food and medicines would be made available to Kashmiris,” it added.
Sayeed reportedly said the Dawah would launch a “countrywide campaign” to restore supply lines to Kashmir through Pakistan occupied Kashmir. “We urge Kashmiris to persevere and assure them that they have the backing of the entire Pakistani nation,” he said.

And they showed there true colours.

The land transfer to the SASB washed off the façade of goodness that the Kashmiri Muslims had worn on themselves over the years. It just showed that nothing has changed in the valley. They are what they were, bloodthirsty and communal zealots.Even after they had forced half a million Pandits out of the valley they could not even accept that 40 acres of land will be taken out for a pilgrimage. They suck.As they bullied the impotent Ghulam Nabi into having the land order revoked,it showed that the only colour that they knew of was green.Yes Green of Islam,of Pakistan and of Jealously.
The alibi of demographic change and environmental pollution got immersed in the roars of “Hum Kya Chahte-Aazaadee” and “Nara-e-Taqbeer-Allah-o-Akbar”.It only dawned on us later that these slogans were Greenpeace slogans emanating out of the Green Syed Ali Shah Geelani. So much of greenery and someone cried pollution.
The government as usual bowed in total submission to the Green.Poor Azad was a Ghulam to the mercurial Mehbooba(Mehbooba…Meh-booba).She pulled the rug and Ghulam Nabi fell.Even in abject disgrace he did not forget that he was a Ghulam.True to his masters,Meh-booba,Mufti,Syed et.al he revoked the order that they wanted revoked. What else do we expect of a Ghulam.Sajjad Lone and Mirwaiz, whose fathers have been killed by the same terrorists who they support today, celebrated and called it a victory.True,a victory it is.A victory of those who killed your fathers. A victory of those who both of you are so scared of that you cannot even say that they killed your father. A Victory Indeed.
Now as Ghulam Nabi counts his losses and faces heat in Jammu, the Kashmiri Muslims can celebrate because the only Sikh who does not deserve to have a Singh in his name is the Prime Minister.A Prime Minister who is a Ghulam in his own way to a Catholic. The Catholic who runs the nation through this Mohan has a clear design. Denigrate Hinduism and let Abrahmic religions rule the roost. The less we talk about the Home Minister the better it is.
And did we hear the Mirwaiz and his other stooges say,”Let the Pandits handle the Yatra”
It is ironic that in this hour of mayhem Mirwaiz remembers Pandits. It is communal powers like him and his ilk who forced minority Pandits to flee the valley by issuing threats from the very mosques that his father controlled at that time.Isn’t he even ashamed of saying “Give the Yatra to the Pandits to handle”.Where are the Pandits. The last count was 4000 Pandits in the valley. It was them who issued threats from blaring loudspeakers of the mosques asking Pandit Kafirs to leave. How come do they expect to even believe them? What political opportunism is this Mirwaiz ?
Why did he not say that the temple bill be passed and Pandits be given the powers to handle their temples and Shrines. Why did he not to the streets with his furious followers then? Why did he not raise the ante when hundreds of Pandit Shrines and temples were desecrated, destroyed and razed to ground.Did he remember us then? He alongside Syed Ali Shah Geelani has proved to be a rabble rouser and is responsible for the Islamisation of the Kashmir Valley. They are responsible for the loss of innocent lives by blowing up a trivial issue. The very premise of environmental degradation and demographic change fall flat in the face of a reasoned argument. What credibility can such a person’s statement have except to be trashed?
He has already paid a price for siding with the extremists? He should remember that the very Al-Umar Mujahideen he is believed to control maybe his nemesis. We wonder if he wants Pandits to control the Yatra just because he knows that they can be driven away anytime.Let him put his proposal in a hookah and smoke it out .
The Media especially the liberal, moderate, english media has played its part. They portrayed the rabble rousing Kashmiri Muslims as Greenpeace activists who were fighting for a just cause, while the Dogras and Pandits as rabble rousers.Of late they have simply blocked the news emanating out of Jammu.Hard as they may try the movement will not stop.
The Congress will pay a huge price for displeasing the Hindus. No more are Kashmiri Pandits sitting back in the quiet confines of their homes. With their Dogra brothers they are braving the curfew, the lathis and even the bullets. As the Ghulam tries his best to break the movement either by cutting off electricity in the night or by jamming mobiles,he should know that the Hindus have arisen. We will give him and his cronies a bloody nose and till the time the land is not given back to the SASB,the fight will go on.

Will Kashmiri Hindu Pandits Ever Return To Their Homeland by J.N Raina in Asian Tribune

Jamaat-e-Islami leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s call for the return of the Kashmiri Hindu Pandits to their ancestral abode is ludicrous. The community has almost been exterminated from the Elysian valley, through the planned process of ethnic cleansing, sporadically, especially since independence, when India became a secular and democratic nation.
Over five lakh Kashmiri Hindus live like refugees in their own country. Now their number might have proportionately increased during 18 years of their "exile." They were forced to flee like pigeons from their home and hearth at the point of gun, when Pakistan-sponsored terrorism erupted during 1989-90. Their houses were repeatedly plundered by the Muslim fundamentalists, assisted by gun-wielding militants in the nefarious "operation." Several hundred temples and places of worship were either desecrated or destroyed during militancy, which is still on.
Geelani’s call is mischievous. He is not honest in saying that the Kashmiri Pandits should only return to their ‘native places’ where their “old Muslim neighbours would receive them with open arms”; and that they should not ‘opt’ for living in the ‘security zones’, because that according to him is “impractical and rather fraught with dangers”.
Perhaps Geelani and his cohorts are treating the proposed ‘home-coming’ as a return of the prodigals. It is apparent from the tone and tenor adopted by the diehard Geelani and many others of his ilk.
Geelani’s call came on the heels of the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s announcement of a ‘grand’ rehabilitation plan for the Kashmiri Hindu migrants, under which a cluster of houses and flats are being constructed, under a comprehensive package. These will be ready within this year, or may be earlier, to coincide with the elections to the state Assembly.
But one would like to ask Geelani, where are the so-called ‘old houses’ of these Kashmiri Pandits? Where are their landed properties? Where are their apple and almond orchards; temples and religious places, palatial buildings, paddy fields, business establishments et al. Their dwellings were pulled down after their mass exodus in early 1990.
No one dared to go back and see these damaged properties or even to file an FIR. Police proved helpless. Many houses were grabbed. Roughly, over 80 per cent of the migrants disposed of their properties under pressure and unforeseen circumstances, and that too at throwaway prices. Surprisingly, after the sale deeds were conducted, prices went up significantly so that the migrants do not return to the valley. It was all manipulated.
Where from the money came to purchase these properties at one go? It is generally believed that Kashmiris are poor. The Pandits are in wilderness. When I visited the then Hindu-dominated locality of Habbakadal in 2005, it wore an eerie and deserted look. Even dogs would not struggle to bark.
It may sound hypothetical, but one would like to understand that after Geelani and his folks receive the Pandits with ‘open arms’, where shall they go? Geelani, who is leading a faction of the Hurriyat Conference, is in fact denigrating the Pandits’ community. The like-minded political leaders, preferring to act as a "devil’s advocate," are in support of Geelani’s view that the migrants should return only to their ‘old houses’ and not to Government flats under construction. It is untenable. The Kashmiri Pandits are now a fragmented lot. They have settled in different parts of the country, mostly in Jammu and Delhi. Thousands of them live in shattered tenements and dingy apartments, in unhygienic conditions.
If Geelani and his compeers had been honest enough about the return of the Pandits, they should have first condemned militancy in no uncertain terms, and the barbarous acts the community was subjected to before they were hounded out. Geelani and his ‘comrades’ should have volunteered to reconstruct the burned down houses of the migrants and restored their places of worship to their original shape and not waited thus far. But alas; they were never serious, for the fact that they regarded the Pandits as persona non grata in the valley. Geelani is against the permanent stay of outsiders in the valley, including Biharis, but those who were the permanent settlers were thrown out.
The radicals by and large achieved their goal of establishing what is known as "Nizam-e-Mustafa" (Islamic way of life). This concept is against the general will of the majority of the Muslims. They have opted for modernity rather than for Afghanistan-type Talibanisation of the Islamic society. What the Muslim fundamentalists are aiming at is against the concept of secular democracy, adopted by India. The radicals’ ideology has not only ruined Kashmiris but the people of Pakistan as well.
The Hurriyat leader is shedding crocodile tears that "Kashmir is incomplete without the Hindu Pandit community." The population of Hindus in Kashmir was reduced to just two per cent (from 15 per cent in 1947) before 1990 exodus. Now less than 15,000 to 20,000 Hindus live in the valley.
Panun Kashmir Chairman Dr Ajay Chrungoo is averse to Geelani’s idea about the return of the Pandits. "By insisting that the migrants should return only to their old homes and intermingle with their old Muslim neighbours, Geelani in fact wants them to ignore their security concerns. He does not want the Pandits to have relationship with the Government or the security forces."
Naturally, it could be interpreted to mean that the Kashmiri Hindus should identify themselves with the politics of the radicals, which is uncalled for. Panun Kashmir, an organization representing the Kashmiri Pandits, has demanded to carve out a separate homeland for the Kashmiri Hindus in the valley, within the Indian union.
Geelani and other separatist leaders should say peccavi (we have sinned) and apologize to the Pandits before making such overtures. They should abjure violence and realize that separatism is disastrous. Separation of Kashmir from the Indian union is impossible. It simply means disintegration of India as well as Pakistan. It can never happen. The radicals are a curse upon the people of Kashmir. Geelani’s mea culpa for supporting and engineering terrorism in the valley will go a long way in the restoration of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir. What they want to achieve is unachievable, for if Kashmir is unstable, both India and Pakistan will remain so.
The fundamentals in the valley have no locus standi to decide about people residing in the other two regions of the Buddhist-dominated Ladakh region and the Hindu-dominated Jammu. Ugly happenings in Kashmir will have an adverse impact in both the countries. The Kashmiri Muslim fundamentalists are holding people in the entire subcontinent at ransom. This is why Pakistan Peoples Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari wants Kashmir issue to be kept on the backburner, to develop economic relationship between India and Pakistan

Hurriyat behind the Ajmer Blasts? (A TOI Report)

Ajmer blast trail leads to Hurriyat

NEW DELHI: Security agencies are questioning Hurriyat leader G M Bhat, an associate of hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and two of his accomplices in connection with the recent Ajmer blast. Cops have gathered vital details of Bhat’s links with the terror network in Pakistan and the Middle East. Sources said strong pointers to the Hurriyat leader’s links with terror fund managers have emerged after raids were carried out on his residences in Delhi and Srinagar.
The interrogation of his aides, Jamali Khan and Danish Anwar, who were apprehended in Udhampur on Sunday while ferrying a consignment of Rs 50 lakh to the Valley from Delhi, have strengthened these suspicions. Bhat has already served two years for hawala operations. He had been caught with Rs 10 lakh received through the extensive hawala network that serves the secessionists in the Valley. Bhat is a member of the Geelani faction of the Hurriyat Conference and is considered as the closest aide of the separatist leader. Jamali and Anwar had worked together in the Ajmer branch of the Bombay Mercantile Bank. Anwar still works as a peon at the bank while Jamali was its branch manager till 2002, when he shifted base to Delhi and started operating as a hawala dealer. Both hail from UP.

The Deobandi connection of the duo is also being probed as Jamali belongs to Deoband in Saharanpur where the religious seminary is headquartered. Anwar is from neighbouring Bijnour district. Investigaters suspect the two were initiated into the jihadi network early in life and may have connections with terror modules in western UP and in other parts of the country.

(Even Yasin Malik has several Hawala cases pending against him)
